We said something big was coming. And although we only tell the truth 65.4 percent of the time, there was a good chance we were full of shit. But as you can see, we are not. The new RDK is now live.
Why the change? Frankly, the old site sucked ass. I created it in about two hours during a slow afternoon at work in August 2007.
Since then we’ve made quite a name for ourselves, having been mentioned in the New York Times, Daily Oklahoma, Oklahoma Magazine and, just Friday, linked from Sports Illustrated. We’ve burned some bridges but also created a loyal, valued following.
Our creativity and awesomness expanded so much that we simply outgrew the old site. The biggest change was to leave Blogger … but definitely to a more robust application. You’ll have to create a new username most likely, but it should be pretty seamless after that. (And as you can see, we still don’t have an everyday graphic designer, so we’ll keep rockin’ MS Paint for now.)
Another new feature is the creation of an iPhone/mobile version of RDK. While the iPhone’s Safari browser is certainly very capable, having a dedicated mobile site makes reading our genius on the go that much easier. And we’re loyal Steve Jobs lemmings.
RDK would also like to thank our behind-the-scenes partners. Big props go to Jon Holzer of JonHolzer.com. He’s our all-everything programmer/coder/developer/tech guru. If you need a site built, he’s your man. He may even post hot sports opinions from time to time, but we’ll keep his Webbernet identity a secret.
Next, a big thank you goes out to Brent Wood of BrentWorld.com. He was instrumental in giving the new site an identity and added tons of polish to our new home. And he doesn’t just do interactive … he’s skilled at all things print, design and more.
So, that’s about the end of all the administrative BS. Tell your friends about RDK. Send them links. E-mail them our greatness. And most important, keep reading and enjoy the new site.
