As everyone already knows, the Sooner family lost a great friend in 2009. Wayman Tisdale, a multitalented basketball player and musician, lost his battle to cancer in May. We all knew it was a possibility, but because of Wayman’s infectious smile and always-positive personality, we all hoped he would beat it.
At tonight’s Oklahoma men’s basketball exhibition against the University of British Columbia, country music star Toby Keith will air his tribute to his friend (video after jump) with the song “Cryin’ for Me (Wayman’s Song).” Most Oklahomans have split opinions about Keith, but he really did put together a touching farewell for his longtime friend.
A tremendous Sooner and an even better person, Wayman truly made the world a brighter place. Six months later, it still hurts to realize he’s gone.

Don’t know why the split view on TK…a guy who speaks his mind and makes no apologies. Great vid bro…we lost a great man. As the vid says…RIP Brother Tiz

I think part of the reason is that TK has been unofficially crowned the face of OU sports during game broadcasts. But you’re right, this is about Wayman.
