In a move that shocked no one, Grimace Charlie Weis was fired yesterday. He of the two BCS bowl appearances. He of the 9-2 record in his first season. He of the 10-2 season his second year. He of the perennial top-5 recruiting classes according to several recruiting gurus.
He also of the BCS ass whippings, the 3-9 third season, the 15-21 record his final three seasons, and the epic FUPA.
First of all, Ruffin McNeil’s white twin needed to go. I don’t think anyone predicted he would have been fired shortly after two excellent seasons to start his college coaching career. But when you’re an arrogant asshole who can’t put a decent defense together despite coaching at the Mecca of college football, you need to go. He’s a bad college coach. And he proved it this year with a schedule that John Blake could have handled to the tune of 10 wins.
The Irish will now pay Weis $18 million due to a universally stupid decision to give Chuck a $30-plus million extension seven games into his head-coaching career. On top of that little buyout, they are going to pay another coach more money to turn their mediocre program around. They want a coach who is proven. They want a coach who will lead them to the promised land. They want a Catholic. They want a Midwest guy. That man? Bob Stoops.
Wait … Wait a second …
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
That will be the fucking day.
Notre Dame is a step down. Their facilities are crap. Their program is no better than Kansas. Their fans are insane, and not like OU-fan insane, rather think Ted Bundy insane. The national media attacks the Irish coach. They have average players despite what Tom Lemming says. And they can’t/won’t pay Stoops what OU will pay him.
Oklahoma, off of their worst season in 11 years, has better players. We have
better facilities. We have a better recruiting base (yes, OU is better at recruiting than ND). We can pay him top dollar. We love him and he has no chance of being fired.
I have been critical of our coaching staff this year. I felt like we were ill-prepared at times. I felt like our play-calling did not suit the guys we were running out there on Saturday. But in all fairness, we were completely and totally hammered by injuries this year. I fully expect a return to double-digit wins next season. I expect we will compete for conference and national championship titles. And I expect Bob will be our head coach.

Lou Holtz, with a straight face, picked Notre Dame to compete for the National Title this year when the season began. I know he is a crazy old man and possibly deranged, but seriously is this just a love affair with a team? I’m just putting that out there.
Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit both picked Texas and Florida for the national title game BEFORE the season even started. Is it safe to say that only people once associated with Notre Dame would pick them to be an elite team, compete for the title, etc…
Nearly every college program has had a hey day. Most teams were great…once. Why do people hang on to the sentimentality of the old programs?
Notre Dame is done. Unless they can some how win at least a National Title and finish in the top ten in the polls for the next 5 years, let this be the death noll of Notre Dame.

If I were Lou, I would be pissed that I didn’t get my $30 million
